Davao City Police Office reports 23 percent drop in crime rate
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recorded a significant decline in reported crime incidents in the city, posting a 23.25 percent reduction from January to December in 2025.

Data from DCPO shows that index crimes decreased from 708 incidents in 2024 to 542 incidents in 2025, reflecting a reduction of 166 cases or 23.25 percent.

Significant declines were recorded in key focus crimes such as theft, rape, and robbery, underscoring enhanced public safety, strengthened police visibility, and improved law-enforcement effectiveness throughout the city.

DCPO acting city director Colonel Mannan Muarip attributed this milestone achievement to the strict implementation of strategic operational plans, intelligence-driven policing, sustained police visibility, and the unwavering dedication and professionalism of DCPO personnel, complemented by the consistent support of the Davao City government.

“This substantial reduction in crime is the result of disciplined execution, swift and decisive action, and accountable leadership. Every police unit has been directed to uphold integrity, vigilance, and professionalism in safeguarding our communities,” Muarip said.

This accomplishment is firmly anchored on the D.A.V.A.O. Framework—Discipline, Action, Virtue, Accountability, and Order, which continues to guide all operational, administrative, and community-based initiatives of the DCPO. These gains were further strengthened through initiative-driven OPLANs, intensified patrol and visibility operations, focused law-enforcement interventions, and robust collaboration with barangay officials, force multipliers, and community stakeholders.

According to Muarip equally vital to the success is the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of Davao City, whose sustained commitment to peace and order—through policy support, resource augmentation, and inter-agency coordination—has significantly enhanced the DCPO’s capacity to deliver effective, responsive, and people-centered police services.

The DCPO assures the public that it will sustain and further intensify its crime-prevention and law-enforcement interventions, promptly address emerging threats, and continue working closely with the LGU and the community to preserve peace and order in the city.

“We will not relent. Our commitment remains steadfast—to serve with honor, enforce the law without fear or favor, and ensure that Davao City remains a safe, peaceful, and orderly place for all,” Muarip said.

DCPO meanwhile, calls on the public to continue its cooperation, vigilance, and active partnership with law enforcement and the local government as it moves forward in sustaining these gains and advancing public safety for all Dabawenyos.
