Davao City digitizes Local Civil Registrar records
The implementation of the digitalization of the Local Civil Registry is just awaiting budget, an official said.

Councilor Bonz Andre Militar, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod's Committee on Information and Technology, said during the Aprubado sa Konseho media forum on Tuesday that the landmark ordinance was approved on the third and final reading.

"By this year ang atong implementation, after budgeting ana, sa Supplemental Budget 1 siguro siya masulod,” Militar said.

Militar said that some Php 5 million will be allotted for the purchase of  scanners, computers, and firewalls and other necessary equipment and software development.

"Since 1946 na records tanan siya hard copy so we are going to convert it to digital copy using those scanners, and we will upload that to the server. Based on our estimate, a thousand documents per day ang atong pwede maregister sa ataong cloud server, " Militar said.

Militar added that with the new system, data from the LCR can also be accessed by partner agencies, cutting short the time for requesting documents from the LCR Office.

"For example, the Department of Foreign Affairs  if mag require sila og birth certificate, no need na sila muadto sa LCR para mupila napud og balik. Diri palang sa DFA mugawas na dayon ang record," Militar said.

He added that aside from the LCR digitalization, the committee is also focusing on other landmark ordinances that are to be implemented this year. CIO
