This new law will open new opportunities for residents in Tagum City, Island Garden City of Samal, and the municipalities of Asuncion, Kapalong, New Corella, San Isidro, and Talaingod in Davao del Norte, and the municipalities of Laak, Mabini, Maco, Maragusan, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, Nabunturan, New Bataan, and Pantukan in Davao de Oro as they will soon be served by Davao Light and Power Co.
DCM have always believed – a stable, reliable, and affordable power will allow businesses to operate smoothly and allow them to tap new growth opportunities. The improved power situation will also improve the quality of life of the residents of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
However, we acknowledge that the transition will take time. Thus, we call on the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO) to work closely, respectfully, and cooperatively with Davao Light. We hope that NORDECO will think about the consumers first with this transition.
Cooperation between all parties is crucial to ensure that the transition happens quickly and smoothly.
Lastly, we thank all the lawmakers who have lobbied for this bill:
We extend our gratitude to the Senate leadership, spearheaded by Sen. Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, along with Sen. Raffy Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Services. Special thanks go to our principal author, Sen. Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri, and co-authors Sen. Bato dela Rosa and Sen. Grace Poe.
Our appreciation also goes to the vocal supporters and interpellators who contributed valuable improvements to the bill for the benefit of consumers—Minority Leader Sen. Koko Pimentel, Sen. Win Gatchalian, and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
We sincerely thank Rep. Migs Nograles, the principal author of HB 11072 in the House of Representatives, along with Rep. Gus Tambunting, chair of the House Legislative Franchises, for their efforts in facilitating hearings that underscored the bill's significance.
Our heartfelt gratitude also goes to our local leaders, Governors Edwin Jubahib of Davao del Norte and Dorothy Gonzaga of Davao de Oro, for their unwavering support and advocacy on our behalf.
Lastly, we would like to thank the business community, tourism sector, and consumers who brought our clamours to our leaders.
To the consumers of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro, every individual and organization are the heroes who have brought positive change to the two provinces.
