Ocampo in his message during the launching of the academy on Saturday, September 9 at Davao City Police Office said “I want to commend each one of you for taking the initiative to join this broadcasting course. Your pursuit of knowledge in the ever-evolving field of digital media is commendable and vital for our society's progress.”
The program’s ultimate goal is to establish this e-media academy as a trusted and primary source of information in the digital realm.
“Today, I'd like to emphasize a crucial theme that resonates with the digital age we find ourselves in – "Think Before You Click." We live in a world where the power of media and social networks is at our fingertips. With a simple click, our thoughts, images, and ideas can reach millions in mere seconds. But with great power comes great responsibility,” Ocampo said.
He said social media platforms have become the heart of today's communication, but these platforms also hold the potential to harm, misinform, and divide.
“It's essential to remember that every post, every comment, every share carries an impact. Each one of you, as aspiring broadcasters, has the capacity to shape public discourse and influence opinions. This power should not be taken lightly,” he said.
Ocampo also said “before you hit that "post" button, ask yourself: Is this information accurate? Is it fair? Is it respectful? Is it necessary? Consider the consequences of your words and actions, not just for yourself but for our community and society as a whole.
“In this era of information overload, misinformation, and online bullying, it's crucial to be mindful of the content we create and share. Remember that your words and actions have the potential to inspire, educate, and bring positive change to our community,” he said.
The participants of the online broadcasting course will be provided with comprehensive training to enhance their digital skills, enabling them to effectively utilize technology and gadgets in their media endeavors.
Through this, the participants will also learn strategies to increase their engagement levels and establish a strong presence on various social media platforms.
At the end of the course, the participants will be equipped with in-depth knowledge of popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Reels. They will learn how to leverage these platforms to their advantage by effectively utilizing features such as tagging and content creation to maximize their reach and impact.
