The accident, which occurred on the busy route to Panacan, involved a jeepney carrying 15 passengers. Witnesses reported that the jeepney skidded and lost control, leading to multiple passengers requiring immediate medical attention.
Go, who happened to be in the vicinity, personally coordinated with emergency responders at the scene. He also provided each of the 15 passengers cash assistance to help with their immediate needs.
He advised that the injured be rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center, ensuring that they received prompt medical treatment. They may also seek assistance from the Malasakit Center at the hospital. Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops aiming to support impoverished patients in reducing their hospital costs to the least possible amount.
Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. As of now, 166 Malasakit Centers are operational across the country, poised to assist with patients' medical expenses. The DOH reports that the Malasakit Center program has already provided aid to more or less ten million Filipinos.
Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
