89 Ex-NPA rebels get livelihood grant
DAVAO CITY-Eighty-nine former members of the New People’s Army rebels coming from various dismantled units, surrendered to the troops under 10th Infantry Division in a ceremony held at the Balimba Hills Activity Center, Sitio JBL, Barangay Sto. Niño, Talaingod, Davao del Norte on May 28, 2025.

The surrenderers turned over a total of 19 firearms and one improvised anti-personnel mine (IED) to the provincial government of Davao del Norte, the 10ID, and other government agencies present.

In support of their reintegration into society, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 11 awarded P1.1 million worth of livelihood assistance to three People’s Organizations under the Integrated Livelihood Program. The Ata-Manobo Former Rebels Association received P300,000 worth of corn shellers, while the Salawao Developmental Workers Association and the Tatag IP Parents-Scholars Association received P400,000 worth of bakery equipment each.

Major General Allan Hambala, Commander of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division Philippine Army lauded the surrender as a significant step toward lasting peace and development in the region.

“This collective return to the folds of the law is a clear manifestation that the people have grown tired of the false promises of the communist terrorist group, “ Hambala said. 

He said  the 10th ID remains committed to helping  former rebels start anew and build better, peaceful lives with the support of the government and their partner agencies.
