35 NPA rebels surrender in Davao Region, Agusan del Sur
DAVAO CITY- Some thirty-five members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) operating across Davao Region and Agusan del Sur have surrendered recently to the government troops.

These NPA rebels were presented to Colonel Jorry Baclor, the Chief of the Unified Staff of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) in a ceremony held at Headquarters of the 60th Infantry Brigade at Barangay Doña Andrea, Asuncion, Davao del Norte on Monday (Sept. 23).

Major Ruben Gadut, spokesman of 10th Infantry Division (ID) reported that prior to this batch of surrender, 15 former NPAs had already surrendered two months ago to 60th IB through the steadfast efforts of the concerned Local Government Units in the area.

The surrender also resulted in the recovery of 16 high-powered firearms and 4 low-powered firearms.

10th ID commander Major General Hambala lauded the leadership and the troops of 60th IB and the 1001st Infantry Brigade for the successful conduct of Localized Peace Engagements in line with the Command's campaign of totally defeating the Southern Mindanao Regional Party Committee and denying their resurgence.

Hambala also emphasized the military's continued focus on ongoing operations to locate remaining insurgent elements.

Hambala renewed his calls for the dispersed remnants of SMRC evading intensified military operations to surrender and embrace the opportunity to live in peace, rebuild their lives, and receive various government programs intended for them.
