Coast Guard Samal Station commander Ensign Vasit Venturillo identified the victim as Joshua Mark Bacang.
The Coast Guard sub-station in Kaputian received information regarding the drowning incident at Alloro Crystal Beach Resort at San Remegio Kaputian, Island Garden City of Samal.
The Coast Guard personnel under 802ND Squadron immediately proceeded to the area to verify the said report. Investigation revealed the victim died while swimming with his other companions in the said beach resort at around 10:30 a.m on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
The victim was drowned at more or less 20 meters from the shoreline. The lifeguard on duty and other concerned individuals tried to rescue him through cardio pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) but failed.
Bacang was still brought to a hospital at Penaplata but he was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.
