DAVAO CITY — The Bureau of Customs - Port of Davao (BOC-Davao) assured the durian farmers in Davao City of assistance for the possible exportation of the product.

In a statement, BOC-Davao District Collector lawyer Erastus Sandino B. Austria said the bureau is ready to help growers to remove technicalities as barriers to make Filipino agriculture accessible worldwide.

The statement came after Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian along with BOC-Davao officials visited a durian farm for talks on ways to assist industry players in the export process for the product and boost overall agricultural export to China last October 28.

The statement said the talks at the Belviz Durian Farm in Calinan were part of the Chinese embassy’s program to open their country as a market for Mindanao-grown fruit.

Austria said Under Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz’s guidance, the BOC-Davao will continue to ease doing business to encourage foreign investors to transact with the Port.

"This is aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ 8-point economic plan," he said.
