NORDECO,TESDA 11 deliver power to 50 IP homes in DavNor town

The partnership of Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORDECO) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Davao Region (TESDA-11) led to energizing the homes of at least 50 Indigenous Peoples in Sitio Kapatagan, Barangay Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte.

This developed after the 50 IPs finished a 14-day skills training on Installing Electrical and Protective Devices leading to Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) NC II of TESDA 11. It was held on October 12,this year at the Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) in Davao City.

NORDECO in its Nov. 23 post said the 50 participants consisting of 35 men and 15 women  IPs from SitioKapatagan were trained on the process of the installation of house wirings, safety switch breakers, and Service entrance connections in their own homes.

They immediately applied what they learned from the training and used the main feeder line of NORDECO.

The activity was formalized through the conduct of an Energization Project ceremony in said Sitio on Friday (Nov. 19).

The IP trainees are expected to earn a living out of their newly acquired skills , NORDECO said.
