P48.6-M seized illegal drugs in Regions 11, 13 destroyed

A total of P48, 609, 508 million worth of seized illegal drugs were destroyed here on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao Regional Office 11 led the destruction through the thermal incinerator facility of Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, J. Camus Extension corner Jose Abad Santos Street, Davao City.

The activity is in line with the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) 2026, with the theme, “World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges: Innovative Responses. "

The PDEA 11 said destroyed illegal drugs include shabu, marijuana, and expired regulated drugs that are no longer allowed to be sold.

The items destroyed included:

• 5,505.1667 grams of shabu valued at ₱37,435,133.56;

• 13,279.3527 grams of marijuana valued at ₱1,593,522.32;

• 0.9467 grams of cocaine valued at ₱5,017.00;

• 494 ecstasy tablets valued at ₱839,800.00;

• 162 vape products valued at ₱11,900.00; and

• Other dangerous drugs valued at ₱1,389.32.

Region 13

• 1,267.3105 grams of shabu valued at ₱8,617,711.40;

• 832.7827 grams of marijuana valued at ₱99,933.92; and

• 3 ecstasy tablets valued at ₱5,100.00.

The destruction activity was conducted in strict compliance with Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, to ensure the proper and lawful disposal of drug evidence and to reinforce public trust in the government’s anti-drug campaign.

The destruction was witnessed by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Rowena M. Apao-Adlawan, a representative from the Public Attorney’s Office, elected public official, civil society organizations, and members of the media, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.

According to PDEA 11Attorney Benjamin Gaspi the agency continues to uphold the integrity of the government’s anti-drug efforts through the proper custody, management, and destruction of drug evidence in accordance with the law.

He said the activity demonstrates their commitment to transparency, accountability, and the relentless pursuit of a drug-free community.
