Will IM Daniel Quizon be our next Chess Grandmaster?
International Master Quizon is unstoppable.

The Philippines could soon witness the emergence of its next chess Grandmaster as Daniel Quizon moves closer to the prestigious title. Quizon secured his third and final GM norm with a remarkable performance in the Hanoi Grandmaster Chess Tournament in Vietnam. Despite a setback in the second round, Quizon bounced back with a series of impressive victories, culminating in a decisive win over Vietnamese GM Bui Vinh.

Surpassing the required seven-point mark, Quizon now awaits only the attainment of a 2500-rating plateau to officially become a Grandmaster. His current rating stands at 2460.6, with plans to participate in upcoming tournaments to bridge the gap. Additionally, Quizon looks forward to making his debut at the FIDE World Chess Olympiad in September. Achieving the GM title would place Quizon among esteemed Filipino chess players such as Eugene Torre, Wesley So, and others, marking a significant milestone in his career.
