Magno said the latest drone footage showed that the flyover’s elevated structure is essentially finished.
“I was shown a drone shot. Tapos na ’yung buong taas, landing, patapos na rin,” he noted, expressing confidence that the remaining works are “manageable” and will be completed before the year closes.
The Maa Flyover, located along the heavily congested Maa–McArthur Highway corridor, is expected to drastically reduce travel time and ease bottlenecks in one of Davao City’s busiest gateways. The project has been viewed as a critical component of the city’s evolving urban mobility network.
Back-to-back major infrastructure milestones
The expected completion of the Maa Flyover comes on the heels of another landmark achievement — the completion and opening soon of the ₱3.2-billion Bucana Bridge. The new bridge, which links the Davao City Coastal Road to the southwestern growth areas, is set to redefine connectivity in the city’s coastal and urban districts.
Magno said the near-simultaneous delivery of these two big-ticket projects reflects the strengthened coordination among government agencies and the local government, as well as a renewed push for strategic infrastructure across Mindanao.
“These projects ease movement, reduce congestion, and support economic activity — exactly the kind of outcomes we want for Davao and for the region,” he added.
With the flyover’s superstructure and landings essentially complete, contractors are now finalizing road approaches, pavement works, and safety installations. Once operational, the flyover is expected to serve thousands of motorists daily, providing significant relief to a corridor long plagued by traffic snarls.
More updates on the formal opening of both the Maa Flyover and Bucana Bridge are expected in the coming weeks as Davao City prepares for a year-end surge of completed infrastructure projects.
