DAVAO CITY---Presumptive Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. scored a knockout against People's boxing champ and fellow presidential contender Manny Pacman Pacquiao in the May 9 local and national elections.
In the just-concluded elections, Marcos beat Pacquiao at his bailiwick in General Santos City, 152,703 to 81,351.
Pacquiao, who made his meeting de avance in General Santos City, was expected to beat Marcos since he is the famous son of the tuna capital of the Philippines.
However, Marcos, who has the support of the incumbent mayor Ronel Rivera and current congresswoman Shirlyn Banas, made an upset against Pacquiao in his backyard.
While Pacquiao failed to beat Marcos, his local political party, the People's Champ Movement (PCM), beat Rivera and Banas in the local race.
Rivera, who ran as a congressman, was beaten by Pacquiao ally Ton Acharon.
Banas for her part was beaten by Loreilai Pacquiao in the mayoralty race.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
