Panabo City chesser in dire need of money for sick son declared champion in Bukidnon
DAVAO CITY---If you pray and play hard at the same time, chances are you will end up as a champion.

That is exactly what happened to a veteran chess player from Panabo City, Davao del Norte who ended up as a chess champion in Bukidnon.

Jayson Salubre won the coveted 1st congressman Jose Manuel Alba Fide Rated Chess Cup in Sumilao, Bukidnon.

Salubre scored 6.5 points to win the tournament against some of the top chess players in Mindanao.

In a Facebook post, Salubre thanked God for his victory since he played despite having less sleep due to the hospitalization of his son.

Salubre said with his win he can finally pay the hospital bill of his son.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
