‘No vaccination, no entry policy’ not good for economy: Sara
DAVAO CITY- Mayor Sara Duterte finds the ‘no vaccination, no entry policy’ as too harsh for the local economy.

‘Sa atoa wala pa ta sa ingon ana because it will severely affect the local economy (Here inDavao City, we do not have such rule because it will severely affect our local economy),” the mayor said in her regular Monday program on Davao City Disaster Radio.

The mayor opts for a win-win situation for Dabawenyos in the wake of the health crisis and the city’s economy.

She said even at the height of the pandemic, the city government did not impose vaccination requirements and testing to land travelers. For air travelers however, the city issued an executive order requiring them to present a valid negative RT-PCR test before boarding at the port of origin and present this upon arrival at the Davao International Airport.

“It will still be the same this year. We still need to balance our local economy and the movement of goods and people. So we do not have that discussion on no vaccination, no entry in Davao City,” the mayor said.

Sara however gives the private sector  like the business establishment the prerogative to set their respective guidelines in relation to vaccination and entry policy.

On October 25, the mayor put on hold the requirement of presenting  vaccination cards of fully vaccinated individuals since the cards can be easily copied.

“Vaccination card is only a reminder for the second dose and the details of the vaccine. It cannot be used to verify vaccination status,” she said.

Meantime, Sara  said the city will wait for the releasing of  vaccination certificates through  VaxCertPh  online database.

Davao City is under Alert Level 2 which allows establishments to operate at 50 percent indoor venuecapacity and 70 percent for outdoor venue capacity of fully vaccinated individuals and those below 18 years old even unvaccinated.
