DOT 11 reminds Multiple-Use Hotels to impose quarantine protocols
DAVAO CITY –The Department of Tourism 11 (DOT 11) reiterated its reminder to all Multiple-Use Hotels (MUH) to continue observing strict protocols imposed by the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).

This is in light of the recent incidents involving persons breaking quarantine rules in Metro Manila last month.

In a statement, DOT 11 Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan said failure to comply will result to the suspension of the accreditation and revocation of permit as an MUH as well as being penalized based on the recommendation of their Tourism Regulation, Coordination and Resource Generation.

Tan said the World Health Organization has recently designated COVID-19 variant Omicron, which has been the cause of many surges of COVID-19 cases around the globe.

"With this new threat, the DOT 11 would like to remind stakeholders to continue to ensure safety protocols in place at all times, to remain vigilant," she said.

She said the said facilities need to regularly monitor not just quarantine but also leisure guests in said respective establishments.

Rabat-Tan said in the event where guests will breach quarantine protocols, the MUHs are obliged to report such incidents forthwith to the BOQ for immediate investigation.

"At present, the DOT 11 One Stop Shop (OSS) staff and other personnel are religiously conducting orientation with Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) on the health and safety protocol and quarantine guidelines upon arrival at the airport," she said.

She said the DOT 11 is also in constant communication and coordination with MUH partners in anticipation of issues and concerns that may arise regarding the ROFs quarantine stay.

In addition, she said the DOT 11 OSS closely coordinates and communicates with OSS Davao Command and its member-agencies, including the BOQ, City Government of Davao, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Office for Transportation Security, Bureau of Immigration, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine National Police, and other security groups on concerns relating to ROF and MUH.

Tan said DOT 11 supports the reopening of tourism during this pandemic by giving paramount importance on the safety of guests, the tourism workforce, and the general public.

"Hence, DOT 11 continues to remind everyone that compliance to the prescribed health guidelines and safety protocol is a shared responsibility. It is imperative that all stakeholders and allied sectors need to work together to ensure the swift recovery of the tourism industry, " she said.
