During a meeting, NBI TAGDO Chief SA Reynaldo Villordon said their agency is collaborating with BOC Davao in conducting information dissemination. The activity will be led by the Port’s Public Information Assistance Division (PIAD).
Villordon said the initiative aims to lessen the number of Customs Love Scam complaints such as continues collaboration.
For his part, BOC-Davao District Collector lawyer Erastus Sandino B. Austria said their office keep on reminding the public that Love Scam is a deceitful scheme which often preys their victims by befriending them online and promising them to send a package containing gifts along with huge sum of money.
Austria said bogus receipts and tracking numbers of packages are also sent to the unsuspecting victims.
He said the public is advised to be more vigilant against these scams.
"Before making any payment, we encourage recipients to inquire first through our public assistance contact channels," he said.
Austria said victims of online scams are also advised to report the incidents to the cybercrime divisions of the Philippine National Police or NBI.
