Bohol Coco Farm started as a simple family coconut farm but now operates as an award-winning hostel that promotes wellness and slow living through its “Kinaiya” philosophy. It is located in Purok 1, Barangay Libaong, Panglao Island, Bohol, about seven minutes from Panglao Airport.
Nestled among trees, Bohol Coco Farm offers a cozy retreat where visitors can experience a simpler, more meaningful way of life. Here, strangers become friends over shared meals, wellness activities, and weekend group outings like going to the beautiful beaches of Panglao or go hiking to the island’s mountain resorts. More than just a place to stay, Bohol Coco Farm hostel is a place where ordinary moments turn into cherished memories and guests find a home away from home.
Dinner is a family affair at Bohol Coco Farm. Every evening, guests gather around the table to share a meal, whether at a locally owned restaurant or over home-cooked food prepared at the farm. These simple gatherings create opportunities for conversation, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
Instead of conventional concrete buildings, guests stay in sturdy nipa huts equipped with essential amenities for a comfortable visit. Each hut reflects the family’s hands-on work and the stories behind the farm’s development.
Rattan hammocks or cradles suspended beneath the trees are among the simple attractions guests love, often inspiring them to extend their stay at the hostel. Those who wish to work out can head to a designated fitness area within the farm, while the entire property provides a conducive environment for guests engaged in remote work. A larger hut is specially designed for the free yoga classes. The rustic, rural ambiance is especially appealing to foreign guests seeking a relaxing escape close to nature.
Bohol Coco Farm’s distinctive approach to hospitality has earned national recognition. The family-owned hostel was named Best Hostel in the Philippines at the 2026 Hostelworld HOSCAR Awards. Bohol Coco Farm received the award in January this year.
“As a local, family-owned hostel, this means a lot, but it wouldn’t be possible without our awesome guests and the amazing team here at Coco Farm, so thank you all,” hostel manager Efren Uriel De Guzman said, giving special mention to his parents and siblings.
Kinaiya at Its Core
Building on its roots in nature and community, Bohol Coco Farm is moving toward a stronger focus on wellness through Kinaiya, an approach centered on slow living, restoration, and reconnection.
The concept brings together three key pillars: a space to move, restore, and reconnect.
“We want to keep things simple, carrying on the same values that have got us here today, so everyone can become their true, authentic self,” De Guzman said.
Kinaiya is a Cebuano word referring to a person’s innate nature or true character. At Bohol Coco Farm, it serves as the guiding principle for creating experiences that encourage guests to slow down, nurture their well-being, and reconnect with themselves and others.
The farm’s wellness offerings include free yoga sessions for guests, as well as soothing massage therapy at an affordable price upon request. Recently, it also launched the Kinaiya Fun Run, extending its wellness advocacy through a weekend activity that encourages movement and community participation. The event is open to guests, family, friends, and physical fitness enthusiasts.
Other wellness offerings are in the works as the hostelcontinues to explore its wellness journey.
Rooted in the Coconut Farm
Bohol Coco Farm’s story began in 2012 as a coconut farm, where the family practiced organic agriculture, harvested produce, and shared food. That agricultural heritage continues today through its exclusive range of natural coconut products and food, including coconut sugar, virgin coconut oil, and coconut-based wellness products such as massage oil and insect-repellent oil, and many more.
The products reflect the family’s commitment to making use of the coconut’s natural goodness while carrying forward the values that have shaped the farm from the beginning.

While nature and community are at the heart of the experience, Bohol Coco Farm also provides practical amenities designed to make guests’ stays comfortable.
Its features include:

At Bohol Coco Farm, the experience is about more than finding a place to sleep. It is about embracing nature, sharing meaningful moments, and discovering the value of slowing down. Through Kinaiya, the family hopes to preserve that spirit while inviting more travelers to move, restore, reconnect, and experience a different side of Panglao. By Judy Quiros
