2023 Philippine National Amateur Chess Championships
More than 200 chess players are going to compete in a nine-round tournament. The tournament is divided into four groups - Open, Women, Juniors, and Kiddies. All the participants are trying to win the special NM titles and a total of P100,000 in prize money.

The country's top chess players will come together in October to compete for the National Master title and recognition. From 6 to 8, there will be the Philippine National Amateur Championships in Tagaytay City. More than 200 people are expected to play in a tournament with nine rounds. The tournament has four divisions: Open, Women, Juniors, and Kiddies. 

All participants are competing for the NM titles and a total prize of P100,000. The Open division is a competition that is expected to draw the best chess players in the country. This includes players with high titles such as Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters. They will be competing for a prize of P15,000. The champions in the Women, Juniors, and Kiddies categories will each receive P5,000 as their prize. 

Additionally, the top 10 participants in each category will also be given cash rewards. Jayson Gonzales, who is the CEO of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, mentioned that the Vice Governor of Cavite, Athena Tolentino and NM Srihaan Poddar are supporting the event.

Tolentino will provide the place for the event, and Poddar managed to get P100,000 for the prize money from his supportive sponsor friends. The president of NCFP, Butch Pichay, the chairman of Philippine Sports Commission, Richard Bachmann, and the president of Philippine Olympic Committee, Abraham Tolentino, also approve of the tournament.
