A 12-year-old National Master from Panabo City, Davao del Norte ruled the semifinals of the online youth chess tournament that offers P18,000 total cash prizes to the winners on November 13.
Christian Gian Karlo Arca scored 7.5 after nine rounds to rule the semifinals of the tournament participated by some of the top young chessers in the Philippines.
With the win, Arca advances to the grand finals on November 27 wherein the champion will receive P3,000.
Aside from Arca, nine other woodpushers got a slot to the coveted grand finals.
The chess tournament for all Filipino players born from 2004 onwards is organized by Dr. Marlonsky chess center, a chess school located in Los Amigos, Tugbok district here.
The tournament is sponsored by Dr. Malon Sayson Jr. and will be facilitated by tournament director Arena Grandmaster Irwin A. Aton. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
