Dasmarinas City, bankrolled by congressman Pidi Barzaga, beat General Santos City in the finals to win the coveted championship.
The team comprises International Master Daniel Quizon, Fide Master Roel Abelgas (coach), International Master Michael Concio, National Master Mark Jay Bacojo, and National Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca from Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
The team who is made up of promising teen players below 20 years of age overcome the odds and challenges from their older opponent to win the crown.
Aside from the championship trophy and cash, Arca also won a gold medal as the top performer on board number 5.
Arca, the only Mindanaoan on the team and currently a Dasmarinas Integrated High School student went undefeated in the tournament to win the gold medal.
