DAVAO CITY--Promising college basketball players from Region 11 are playing superbly in the oldest college basketball league in the Philippines, the 2022 NCAA college basketball league.

Former Ateneo de Davao University starting point-guard  Kalen Axel Doromal is the leading scorer in the NCAA as of October 14 with 17 points per game average.

With his scoring skills, Doromal, the lead point guard of the Arellano University Chiefs, made his team very competitive this year.

Davaoeno point-guard Miguel Oczon of the league-leading College of St. Benilde Blazers is in fourth place in scoring with a 15.2 point-per-game average.

Oczon, a transfer from the National University basketball team in the UAAP men’s college basketball division, is playing exceptionally well this year.

Before playing in Metro Manila, the six-foot Davaoeno was a former Davao Christian High School basketball team player.

Before he departed from the Bulldogs, Oczon averaged 19 minutes a game in his rookie season with 4.14 points and 2.14 rebounds per game.

In the 2019 Kadayawan Invitational Basketball League, Oczon also helped the Bulldogs win the crown over the De La Salle University Green Archers, 77-70.

Oczon played solid for the Bulldogs in the game, scoring 14 points in their championship win. (Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
