Two Filipinos get semis slots in Singapore Asian 9-Ball Open tilt
DAVAO CITY---Two Filipino cue artists have made it to the semifinals of the tough 2022 APF (Asian Pool Federation Ltd) Asian 9-Ball Open tour at the Aspire Recreation Centre in Singapore.

On Saturday night, James "Dodong Diamond" Aranas toppled another Filipino, Lauro Bongay, 11-2, to barge into the semifinal round of the international billiard tournament.

Aranas is set to face Naoyuki Oi of Japan in the semifinals of the billiards tournament.

Aside from Aranas, Johann Chua also made it to the semifinal round after the Filipino beat Robbie Capito of Hong Kong, 11-10, in the quarterfinals early in the day.

Chua will face Ko Pin Yi of Chinese Taipei in another semi-final showdown.

The Filipino is on fire as he recently won a gold medal in the 9-ball pool competition during the Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam last, May.

On the women's side, lady cue artists Rubilen Amit and Chezka Centeno will slug it out with each other in the quarterfinals after defeating separate foes.

Amit nipped Yuki Hiraguchi of Japan, 9-3, while Centeno crushed Suvene Ng of Singapore, 9-3.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
