Govgen cop gets silver in World Police and Fire Games 2022
DAVAO CITY---Veteran marathon runner and Police Regional Office police officer Jonathan Pido won a silver medal in the World Police and Fire Games 2022 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on July 28.

Pido, assigned in Governor Generoso Municipal Police Office, won the silver in the Men's 3.2-kilometer open water swimming event.

The police officer is the second uniformed personnel who won a medal in the said event.

On July 24, Police Staff Sergeant Rodel Bustamante, assigned to the 2nd Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, won a gold medal in the Men's Masters 40+ 5,000 meter walk.

In a Facebook post, Bustamante said he is happy to win the gold medal for the Philippines and Philippine National Police.

In 2019, Bustamante also won a silver medal in the same event in Chengdu, China.

More than 10,000 competitors from 70 different countries participate in the WPFG2022.

They competed in 63 sports, including CrossFit, athletics, water polo, kite surfing, and the ultimate firefighter.

The World Police and Fire Games 2022 were organized to establish encounters between first responders. (Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
