Davao's Simon Servillon chases World Cup Dream: A Local Hero's Journey to Global Glory
Davao City, Philippines – Davaoeno mountain bike sensation Simon Servillon has set his sights on conquering the world stage, aiming to qualify for the prestigious World Cup in 2026. The downhill racing star, a resident of Matina, Davao City, and a student at the University of Mindanao, is embarking on an ambitious quest to make his dream a reality.

To secure his spot in the World Cup, the reigning mountain bike king of the Philippines plans to compete in 14 international races. These races are crucial for Servillon to accumulate the necessary points to qualify for the global competition. Speaking at the Davao Sports Writers Forum at SM Davao Annex on October 9, the 22-year-old revealed that he needs to achieve at least a third-place finish in six of those races to meet the World Cup qualification criteria.

 

Currently ranked 121st in the world, Servillon is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation. His rigorous training regimen is designed to hone his skills and boost his performance, ensuring he is in peak condition for the challenges ahead.

 

Before embarking on his World Cup quest, Servillon will proudly represent the Philippines at the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand this December. He will compete in the mountain bike downhill racing event, where he aims to add another medal to his impressive collection.
