In a statement, Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station commander Major Rodante Varona identified the suspect as Janeth Capuli Sevillano who is a transient resident of Purok 7, Feeder Road 2, Barangay Tibal-og, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
Law enforcers arrested Sevillano and confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1, 033.60 in a buy-bust operation at Purok 6-C, Feeder Road 2, Barangay Tibalg-og, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.
Sevillano is not a resident of Santo Tomas, Varona said, adding that the operation is a continuing effort of the Evangelista administration to eradicate drugs before the end of President Rodrigo Duterte’s term.
The 41-year-old online seller was the subject of thorough intelligence operations after police authorities here were alerted of the series of robbery incidents in the poblacion.
Sevillano went viral on social media after a photo of her riding a pink motorcycle, in what appeared to be an attempted robbery, was captured by a Closed-circuit television (CCTV).
She was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and is now at the custody of the Santo Tomas PNP.

Meanwhile, Varona urged the public to report any crime incidents as the Santo Tomas PNP is implementing a “blotter-based” reporting of criminal incidents.
“Our public hotline numbers and even our social media accounts are active and alert 24/7. The public can report or send any information about crimes, and peace and order issues so that we can verify and act on these concerns immediately,” Varona said.
Varona underscored the importance of crime reporting since this “would give the Santo Tomas PNP a clear picture of the crime map of the municipality and for us to deploy personnel appropriately to effectively thwart criminality.”
Varona also appealed to the public here not to fall for social media posts on crimes that didn’t occur.
He added that hoax information only spread panic.
He then asked people not to pass on unverified information on social media without verifying the veracity of the piece of information they read on social media.
“Dili lang kita magpadala sa mga Marites online labi na kung dili verified ang information kay maka trigger kini og panic sa katawhan. Hangyo lang namo na kanunay i-report ang mga crime incidents or any suspicious activities sa inyong palibot kay para mahatagan og aksyon sa inyong kapulisan,” Varona said.
