Santo Tomas LGU gets medical supplies, IT equipment from Davao Light
DAVAO CITY —The town of Santo Tomas in Davao del Norte received medical supplies and various Information and technology equipment from Davao Light and Power Company, Inc. to bolster the municipal government’s vaccination drive and support the educational programs of the Indigenous People (IP) children in Sitio Talos, Barangay San Jose.

“We thank Davao Light and Aboitiz group for their continued donations and assistance that the Santo Tomas LGU received from them. Pila katuig nahimong enabling partner nato ang DLPC sa pag-implementar sa mga programa ug proyekto na naay kalambigitan sa kalambuan dinhi sa atong lungsod,” Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said.

The donated items were turned-over on Monday (February 28) to Evangelista and other municipal officials in a short ceremony attended by Davao Light President and Chief Operating Officer Rodger Velasco, Davao Light Panabo Branch Head Paul Michael Cazar, and Reputation Enhancement Management head Fermin Edillon. 

Evangelista said Davao Light's assistance would be a big help as the Santo Tomas government ramps up the pediatric vaccination drive and even the Resbakuna Program of the Municipal Health Office (MHO) being implemented in 19 barangays. 

Apart from this, the ICT equipment intended for the IP children of Sitio Talos is expected to aid the students’ learning as the Talos Elementary School implements a hybrid delivery mode of learning. 

Aboitiz-owned DLPC also provided food provisions for 2, 000 persons in support to the vaccination drive of the Santo Tomas government. 

Among the items donated for the Municipal Health Office were, 20 boxes-Paracetamol 500mg tablets, two boxes-Terumo Syringe 5ml with needle 100's, two boxes-Syringe 3ml with needle 100's Partners, 48 packs-Happy Cotton Balls 300's, 50 rolls-Micropore Plaster 1"x10yds five units-Omron Digital BP HEM-7121, an Aneroid Sphygmo. Standby Baxtel, 20 pieces-Pulse Oximeter, 10 sets-Oxygen Regulator with humidifier, 20 pieces-Digital Thermometer, two units-Infrared Thermometer with Alcohol Dispenser (HM-Infrathermo-K3), 20 gallons Alco Sure Isop Gallon, six Lysol hand Soap 225ml

766 pieces-Disposable isolation Gown SMS Blue 40gsm, 10 packs-Disposable Nurses Cap Caterpillar 5pieces/set (100s), 100 boxes Face Mask 3Ply Earloop 5s/pk 50s INDOPLAS, 10 boxes-Latex Exam Gloves Medium Rx Dr. Care PF100s and three Laptops. 

For Talos Elementary School, the Davao Light gave four laptops, 20 mobile tablets, 2 printers and 10 headset with mic. 

For her part, Municipal Administrator lawyer Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña said the Evangelista administration’s strong multi-sectoral approach at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic through working and collaborating with Davao Light contributed to the successful implementation of the various programs being implemented by the Santo Tomas government. 

“Our partnership with DLPC demonstrates the kind of public and private partnership that we want to envision for Santo Tomas. This is not the first time that we tapped them and over the years, ang Aboitiz-owned DLPC —sila ang nahimong partner nato sa pag-implementar sa tourism, education, and health programs for Santo Tomas,” she said.

Evangelista-Lapiña said whatever donations and assistance given by Davao Light for Santo Tomas would go directly to the intended beneficiaries. 

She said this is one way of Davao Light's giving back to the community and the municipal government should make sure that the people will benefit from this.
