City speeds up CDRRMC reorganization to aid Abra quake victims
DAVAO CITY- The city government here is fast tracking the reconstitution of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRMC) so it could send financial aid to the earthquake victims in Abra, of the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon last week.

The City Information Office in a report said lawyer Francis Mark Layog, the acting city administrator said the reconstitution of CDRRMC is needed to cause the release of the budget for the aid.

 Aside from the reconstitution, there are other requirements which the city is currently complying for the assistance.

 " The CDRRMC is up for reconstitution and after that definitely, we will send help,” Layog said.  

 The province of Abra was hit by a powerful magnitude7 earthquake on July 22 affecting several residents.

 Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head Alfredo Baloran, also confirmed they are in close coordination with directly concerned departments to have the CDRRMC reorganized and hold an emergency meeting to discuss the financial assistance.

 He said that once the reconstitution is done, they will call for an emergency meeting to discuss the aid.

 “The new disaster council members will take up the financial assistance,” he said.

 He said it is up for the CDRRMC to decide on the amount of the financial assistance.

 Previously, he said the city government allocated P1 million in financial assistance for provinces hit by disasters, P 500,000 for cities, and P300,000 for municipalities.
