Gov't services continue on Fridays despite flexible work arrangements

The City Government of Davao will continue delivering essential services and transactions to the public despite the adoption of flexible work week arrangements starting Friday.

Harvey James C. Lanticse, Acting Head of the City Information Office (CIO), clarified in an interview with the Madayaw Program over city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), that the flexible work arrangement  government does not imply a pause in public service.

“Ang serbisyo sa gobyerno naa Lunes hangtud Biyernes, dili mausab. Dili ninyo huna-hunaon nga mag-flexible work arrangement walaý transaksyon ‘pag Biyernes (The government will continue delivering services from Monday to Friday, nothing will change. Don’t think that flexible work arrangement means no transaction on Fridays),”he said.

“Ang mausab ra aning flexible work arrangement ang presensya sa mga personnel sa ubang opisina nga pwede ra mag-work remotely dili na nila need muadto physically sa ilahang office (The only thing that changed in this arrangement is the onsite attendance of personnels of some offices that can continue their operations remotely),” he added.

On April 15, the City Government of Davao announced the implementation of Executive Order No. 08, Series of 2026 which mandates offices of the City Government to adopt flexible work arrangements every Friday starting April 17.

This move is in line with the city’s energy conservation initiatives amid the ongoing energy crisis being experienced worldwide.

Departments and offices that provide frontline and essential services—such as hospitals, health offices, emergency response units, disaster risk reduction and management offices, public safety and security offices, and other offices that require on-site transactions—are exempted from the arrangement to ensure uninterrupted delivery of services to the public.

“ Kung naa mo’y mga transaction sa gobyerno, naa mo’y mga permit nga applyan, permit nga bayaran, or mga dokumento nga need ninyo’ng kuhaon  abri gihapon ni nga mga concerned offices nga mudawat sa mga maong request (If you have government transactions like permit applications, payments, documents that you need to process, the concerned offices will remain open to cater to your needs),”Lanticse emphasized.

Dabawenyos are assured that amid ongoing challenges in energy resources, the City Government of Davao will continue to provide services to the public.

“Our goal is to reduce energy consumption while at the same time ensuring that the delivery of public service continues during this period,” Lanticse said. CIO
