According to Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region XI Director Ednar Dayanghirang, citing the latest data from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) Region XI, the Tagum monitoring station recorded good air quality, while the Digos station registered fair conditions.
The Malita station recorded both good and fair air quality across its monitoring parameters.
Meanwhile, the Calinan station recorded fair air quality in one parameter as of September 3. However, another monitoring parameter showed levels classified as “unhealthy for sensitive groups” from August 31 to September 3.
The elevated PM2.5 concentrations in Calinan were attributed to the ongoing transboundary haze originating from Indonesia. The condition may cause discomfort or health concerns, particularly among children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
DENR-EMB Region XI continues to conduct regular monitoring of air quality in the region and issue updates to keep the public informed.
Residents, particularly those belonging to sensitive groups, are advised to remain alert to air quality advisories and take appropriate precautions when pollution levels increase.
