Surigaonon with illegal firearm, ammunition nabbed at Davao checkpoint

AVAO CITY- A 37-year-old resident of Surigao del Sur in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition was arrested in an intensified police and military checkpoint in Lasang checkpoint, Barangay Lasang this city Monday morning (Nov. 22).

The suspect was identified by Task Force Davao (TFD) as Peter Cruiz Montañez, a resident of Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.

Montañez was arrested upon entering the North border of the city

onboard a grey Toyota Fortuner traveling from Surigao City.

The authorities seized from the suspect one Caliber .45 pistol, magazine, and seven bullets.

The suspect and recovered items were immediately placed under the custody of Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.

Colonel Darren Comia, TFD commander lauded the troops for effectively and efficiently implementing the Executive Order of the City on Culture of Security and laws of the land.

Comia underscored that owning a gun entails loads of responsibilities, such as securing a registration and updated license.

Comia continuously reminded the public that any form of illegal instrument is never welcome in the city.
