The training took place on March 12, 19, and 26 aiming to promote additive manufacturing in medical application which were also joined by Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) ENT-HNS department's Dr. Danilo Legita and Dr. Kris Anne Estoesta joined the training
The Department of Science and Technology 11 (DOST 11) in a statement said FABHealth 2022 intends to continue its initiative on training the head and neck surgeons on the transformation of DICOM files to STL files using Slic3r/Osirix, editing of the 3D models using Meshmixer, 3D file preparation using Cura and hands-on operations of 3D printers.
It was conducted using blended online and face-to-face modalities simultaneously in different locations of the Philippines.
The training was made successful through the collaborative effort of partner FabLabs, namely: FABLAB Mindanao of MSU-IIT Iligan City which is the current Quality chair of recently established FABLABs PH Network; ENT-HNS Mini-Maker Space of Zamboanga City Medical Center; LIKHA FabLab of Batangas State University - Alangilan Campus; FabLab Bicol of Bicol University; SSF FabLab Eastern Visayas of Philippine Science High School - Eastern Visayas Campus; and Digihub-FabLab Davao of University of Southeastern Philippines.
Various industry partners also supported the training such as Puzzlebox3D Philippines - Ultimaker, medical partners, the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (Northern Mindanao Chapter), Zamboanga City Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, and the Philippine Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.
