During the UniTeam proclamation rally, Duterte said that her administration has “brought down the decades-long guerilla movement in Paquibato District in just four years.”
Santo Tomas Municipal Administrator lawyer Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña was the Peace 911 program focal of Davao City prior to her stint at the Santo Tomas government.
In a statement, Evangelista-Lapiña said the peace and development come into fruition in Davao City’s Paquibato District, a known lair of the New People’s Army, because of the Peace 911 and through Duterte’s political will to effect ‘meaningful’ change in the lives of the indigenous people’s in the far-flung areas of Paquibato District.
She said Disiplinadong Tomasino supports the peace and development initiatives anchored on a human-centered approach.
"In fact, Davao City’s Peace 911 and Disiplinadong Tomasino is bilaterally engaged to strengthen peace efforts within the borders of Davao City and Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte," she said.
Evangelista-Lapiña is also a member of the Task Force TUGANAY which was created to provide long-term solution to the ancestral domain issues in the affected areas particularly in the tri-boundary of Paquibato, Talaingod and Santo Tomas.
The Municipal Administrator is also engaged with Davao Region’s Peace and Order Council (RPOC) where peace and order situation in the region, and updates on illegal drugs were regularly discussed to ensure that peace and development initiatives are effectively implemented to bring meaningful peace and development in the communities.
