6 minors in police custody over stabbing of 2 students in Damosa

DAVAO CITY – Six minors were taken into police custody over the alleged stabbing of two high school students in Diamond Village, Damosa, in this city, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said on Tuesday.

The authorities also  recovered a weapon used by the  minors, which according to DCPO  listed as Children  in Conflict  with the Law during the   stabbing incident on Monday afternoon, July 6.

DCPO reported that at around 4:20 p.m.,  while the victims  walking home from school were suddenly attacked by a group of youths. One victim sustained three stab wounds to his back, while his companion suffered one stab wound. Both victims are currently undergoing medical treatment at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

Personnel from Sasa Police Station immediately launched a swift follow-up operation at San Jose, Buhangin, resulting in the successful rescue of the six minors. The primary suspect, alias Justin, was positively identified by the victims and subsequently surrendered the Swiss knife used in the assault.

The resolution of the incident  highlights DCPO's proactive interventions in addressing cases involving CICL and Children-at-Risk (CAR), adding they will  remain firm in its commitment to balancing strict law enforcement with protective, restorative legal frameworks, ensuring public safety and peace of mind for Davao's parents and students.

The rescued minors and recovered evidence are currently under police custody for proper disposition and further investigation.
