Wounded Davao Region cop receives Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting, financial assistance

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete honored a wounded police personnel with the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting following an armed encounter during a manhunt operation in Purok 3, Brgy. Sibulan, Toril District, Davao City on February 14, 2026.

The personnel sustained a gunshot wound while lawfully performing his duty in pursuit of a wanted individual. He was immediately brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City for treatment and is now in stable condition.

Rosete  personally checked on the condition of Police Corporal Elthon John Mamac and extended financial, moral, and institutional support to him and his family. 

As a symbol of recognition for his courage and dedication to duty, Rosete conferred the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting—an award bestowed upon personnel who are injured in the lawful performance of duty.

The manhunt operation was launched as part of PRO 11’s intensified campaign against wanted persons, reinforcing its commitment to public safety and the rule of law. Despite the risks involved, PRO 11 personnel remain steadfast in carrying out their mandate to protect the community.

Rosete emphasized that the organization stands firmly behind its men and women, especially those who put their lives on the line in the service of the Filipino people.

“Our wounded personnel exemplifies bravery and commitment beyond measure. His courage reflects the true spirit of public service. Rest assured that PRO 11 will continue to support him and his family as he recovers,” Rosete said.

PRO 11 assures the public that operations against criminal elements will persist with full force, guided by professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights.
