The substation caters to the power needs of the 63-hectare Industrial Special Economic Zone and its surrounding areas. This will also support the city's future growth in electricity demand.
According to Davao Light President Enriczar Tia, the San Pedro substation will have an initial capacity of 10MVA and it is expected to be operational in June 2026 while the remaining 33MVA capacity will be completed in 2027.
"It will also be able to energize the households here including the commercial establishments," Tia said.
Tia said this is a digital substation that is equipped with automated monitoring and control systems, enabling it to capture and transmit real-time data.
The digital substation will also allow Davao Light engineers to identify and troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently.
Tia said "Davao Light remains a steadfast partner in the growth and development of the communities we serve to provide reliable, sustainable, and efficient electricity to Panabo City and the Anflo Industrial Estate."
The San Pedro substation is Davao Light's 29th distribution substation in Panabo City to deliver reliable power and fuel the area's growing economic activity, particularly supporting the Anflo Industrial Estate.
Damosa Land Inc., President Cary Lagdameo believes that reliable power is critical for attracting investors to the industrial estate especially the foreign investors.
"To have good, reliable, affordable power is very critical and I think it was one of the major decisions why a lot of our locators decided to locate here in Davao Region since it has more affordable power compared to anywhere else in the country," Lagdameo said.
