Ruel Magdayao, Vice Chair of RMC 11 of the Philippine Taekwondo Association, expressed optimism about the team's prospects this year. Speaking at the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association forum at AM Davao on October 16, Magdayao highlighted the team's growth in numbers, with over 50 athletes competing compared to the 40-plus from the previous year in Palawan. He hopes this increase in participation will translate to an improved performance, surpassing their single gold medal achievement from last year.
Magdayao also noted the rising talent in taekwondo from other cities, anticipating strong performances from Digos and Mati. Across Mindanao, he expects formidable competition from Cagayan de Oro and host city General Santos.
