Duterte hopes continuity of housing programs in the coming admin

DAVAO CITY – President Rodrigo Duterte is hoping that the administration of President-elect Bongbong Marcos will continue the housing projects, which he prioritized during his term.

This was expressed by Duterte in his speech here on Thursday (June 23), during the turn-over of housing units of Madayaw Residences, a project under Government Employees Housing Project of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

"I hope that the next administration will also continue the things that would make our people happy. Although not all but may makita sila that we are doing something with the money of the people," Duterte said.

The President said the low-cost housing program is the government's way of giving back to the country’s hardworking uniformed personnel and civil servants.

" Ibig kong sabihin bumabawi lang rin ang gobyerno sa sakripisyo ninyo," he said.

The President said he is confident that the Senate will also do its part since Senator-elect JV Ejercito will again lead the Committee on Housing.

"Sana sila na ang mag-udyok sa administrasyon na hindi kalimutan ‘yung mga proyektong naumpisahan na napakaganda," he said.

Duterte said Ejercito can make a drift towards the continuance of the program especially on housing.

Also, Duterte said he urged the NHA to intensify its mandate of addressing the housing needs of Filipinos , especially the homeless, marginalized, and low-income families as the new administration is about to assume.

" I am confident that your steadfast efforts in the succeeding administration will redound to a more active, participative and productive society," he said.

The President also lauded the NHA for its successful implementation of housing projects across the country.

" They have played crucial roles in nation-building and fulfilling the administration’s priorities and advocacies,' he said.

Duterte said with NHA's  outstanding display of perseverance and diligence in their duty,  helped advance the government’s goals to ensure a comfortable life for every Filipino.
