Canete recently signed a one-year contract with the San Miguel Beer to play in the PBA All-Filipino Cup.
The former varsity player of the St. John Paul II College of Davao Saints and Arellano University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) decided to sign with the Beermen after his former team, the Meralco Bolts has, decided not to renew his contract.
Before playing in the PBA, Canete also played for the Bacoor Strikers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
