Over 2,000 Davao inmates now fully vaccinated vs. COVID-19

DAVAO CITY- More than 2,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) from Davao City Jail male and female dormitories have received their full vaccination on Saturday (November 19).

A mobile vaccination rollout led by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) from the Office of Councilor Pamela Librado, was able to vaccinate more than 95 percent PDL in three detention facilities.

According to Librado, only a few inmates were deferred to receive the vaccine due to medical conditions, but the rest received full doses.

Aside from PDL,  those vaccinated  also included personnel of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and their dependents.

The SP-initiated vaccination rollouts under the guidance and direction of the City Health Office (CHO)  contributed to the high vaccination rate among PDL.

Librado said PDL should not be excluded from the vaccination drive.

"Iapil gyud nato ning mga PDL or mga inmates nato sa vaccination kay apil sab sila sa vulnerable sector tungod sa kahimtang nila sa atong mga detention facilities," she emphasized.

Librado, also assured to continue to conduct various vaccination rollouts, in identified groups and communities.

She said  the vaccination rollouts should also include a massive vaccine education.
