Alfredo Baloran, CDRRMO head said his teams are now in close coordination with the Barangay Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMC) to continue to visit and check the flood and landslide-prone areas while warning people to be on extra alert.
“We warn them repeatedly, especially now that we are experiencing continued rains. The water is contained in the landslide-prone areas. We also experience ground shaking so there is a tendency that the foundation of the soil loosens resulting in a landslide,” Baloran said in a report from the City Information Office (CIO).
Baloran expressed concern about the continued stay of residents in vulnerable areas adding they have been constantly advised to find a safer place.
“We have asked those who are living in landslide-prone areas to find another place where they can live safely away from danger. We saw what happened in Leyte and we are hoping that it does not happen to us,” Baloran said.
