Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario, commander of Western Mindanao Command said that troops were fired upon by the DI-TG members under Hassan Indal alias Katrina which resulted in an exchange of gunfire that lasted for about five minutes.
Due to the superior firepower of the government forces, the local terrorists were forced to withdraw and escape, Rosario said.
He said while they were scouring the area, the troops recovered one enemy cadaver identified as alias Adsam.
Also recovered in the encounter site were a 5.56mm rifle, bandoleer, 189 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, magazines, two cellular phones, and a suppressor.
Rosario said the military will not stop until all terrorists are neutralized.
“Our soldiers are out there hunting for those who refuse to return to the fold of the law and continue to wreak havoc in the communities, hence, I enjoin everyone to continuously support our troops in this fight to eliminate the terror groups in the Mindanao region,” Rosario further said.
Joint Task Force Central commander Major General Juvymax Uy meanwhile, commended his troops for a job well done.
“We expect that more enemies were injured due to the bloodstains traced in the area,”Uy said. (BY RUTH PALO)
