“We are now preparing the documents and the assistance needs approval from the disaster council and the city council,” Baloran said.
He said these documents such as the declaration of a state of the calamity of the areas are among the needed documents as a basis for the financial assistance.
"It is the practice of the City Government of Davao to extend assistance to the affected LGUs. Whether they ask for it or not, the city government voluntarily extends support to the LGUs that are hit by any calamity,”" he said.
Baloran said that after they complete the necessary documents, they will present them to the City Budget and the City Administrator. The disaster council will have meetings to decide and approve the amount.
“ It is after these meetings that they will go to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for the approval of the utilization of the city's calamity fund for the financial assistance to be extended to the affected areas,” he said.
It can be recalled that the onslaught of Typhoon Carina the previous week wreaked havoc in areas of the National Capital Region. CIO
