Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed this in her Sara All For You episode, Monday (Feb.7).
Sara conceptualized the project in 2018 and tasked the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) to spearhead the project which is aimed at providing hot meals for victims of calamities in the city among others, fire, flooding or earthquake in evacuation centers.
Sara in said episode let Julie Pangan-Dayaday, the acting administrative officer of CSSDO give the details of the project.
“We saw the need of a mobile kitchen to feed the victims and responders in times of crisis or calamities,” Sara said.
Dayaday said the project also involves community cooking but the distribution of hot meals is basically its main purpose.
She also said calamities erupt any time or day, which is why food should be ready for the victims.
“We serve hot meals because if a calamity erupts at nighttime, it is important to feed the victims,” she said.
During peace times, the mobile kitchen is still being maintained and sanitized.
The mobile kitchen team (workers) are trained to be ready always so they can respond as the need arises, Dayaday said. (BY JUDY QUIROS)
