“[This is] one of the biggest investment value nga atoang na generate and that’s only for 2026 (This is one of the biggest investment value that we’re able to generate and that’s only for 2026),” April Marie C. Dayap, DCIPC Head, told the City Information Office.
The projects are expected not only to advance the city’s economic growth but also to provide transportation support infrastructure, promote tourism, and support energy generation. They are also expected to generate more employment opportunities for Dabawenyos and increase the city’s revenue.
“While they invested now, in the future ang revenue generation pud para sa city dako pud siya, especially with employment which is really the focus of the Mayor to provide more employment opportunities (While they are investing now, in the future the revenue generation for the city will also be substantial, especially with employment, which aligns with the Mayor’s goal of providing more employment opportunities for the public),” Dayap emphasized.
DavCon’s project is seen to generate at least 430 jobs, while Therma South is expected to generate at least 2,150 jobs, including up to 2,000 during its construction phase.
Dayap said the companies were granted investment incentives approved by the Davao City Investment Incentive Board: business tax exemptions for five years, real property tax exemptions for three years, and a five-year exemption from Mayor’s permit, fees, and licenses.

The exemptions are part of the city’s investment incentives for projects in agribusiness, tourism, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, property development, health, education, eco-industry, and inclusive business activities.
Dayap also said that apart from these firms, several other companies have expressed interest in investing in the city, particularly in property development.
“Increasing pud kaayo ang investment interest dili lang ni sa kadtong mga naapprove nato, but kadto gani’ng nagpadayag og interest that they would like to invest in the city, and it’s more on property development. We have more coming, probably dili nato na mahabol this year, but definitely next year in 2027 we will see more property developments (Investment interest is also increasing greatly, not only from those we have already approved, but also from those who have expressed interest in investing in the city, and it’s more on property development. We have more coming; we probably won’t be able to catch up with them this year, but definitely next year, in 2027, we will see more property developments),” she said. CIO
