HARRY ROQUE DENIES DILG CLAIM THAT HIS AUSTRIAN ASYLUM BID WAS REJECTED

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has denied the claim of DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla that his application for asylum in Austria has already been rejected.

In a statement, Roque described Remulla’s claim as “fake news,” arguing that the lapse of six months does not automatically mean an asylum application has been denied.

Roque said his application remains under consideration and that he is still waiting for the official decision from the appropriate Austrian asylum authorities.

He maintained that any statement declaring his asylum application denied would be false unless it is based on an official decision from Austrian authorities.

Roque also called on government officials to verify information before making categorical statements concerning matters under the jurisdiction of a foreign government.

“Beware of fake news—even when it comes from government officials,” Roque said.
