In a statement Tuesday night, August 18, Duterte said transparency and accountability should apply not only to one government office but to all agencies and officials using public funds.
She pointed out that the Office of the President issues travel authorities to various government offices, including its own officials and employees.
Duterte said the public deserves access to information on the travel expenses of government officials and the public funds used for such trips.
“From hereon, we expect that all travel authorities issued by the Palace, together with the corresponding travel expenses and public funds involved, be made available to the public,” she said.
The Vice President stressed that making such information accessible would help promote transparency and accountability in the use of government resources.
