“As a personal stand dili nako ipabakuna akong mga anak if dili pa ibalik ang face to face classes, ( I will not let my children take the vaccines if the face to face classes is not reopened),” Sara said in her Special Hours with Inday Sara radio program today.
She said she does not see the usefulness of the vaccines for the pediatric sector (5-11 years old) if there are no face-to-face classes.
“After six months mabahaw na ang bakuna so magpabakuna (booster) na sad ug usab ang mga bata para asa? This is my personal opinion as a mother. (the vaccines are not anymore effective after six months so what’s the use of the vaccines if there are no face to face classes),” Sara continued.
She said there should be a meeting of the minds first in relation to the opening of classes, so that parents could schedule or make a target as to when their children should get the jabs in such a way that it will be useful.
Sara made the statement as the DOH issued its guidelines for the rollout of the pediatric vaccination.
As per statement of the Department of Health (DOH), Pfizer vaccines for the pediatric sector are now available.
Individuals aged 5 to 11 will similarly get two doses of Pfizer vaccine in a three-week interval.
The formulation of the vaccines for the children is different from that of the adults.
Sara said as a mayor,” DOH said vaccination for the 5-11 years age group is now open.” (BY JUDY QUIROS)
