Bong Go extends assistance to hundreds of women, faith-based groups and barangay functionaries in Governor Generoso, cites social protection and livelihood measures
Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally attended a distribution of assistance for residents from different sectors in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, on Saturday, August 1.
The activity reached 800 beneficiaries, comprising members of the women’s sector, religious and faith-based groups, and barangay functionaries from across the municipality.
“Ang tulong na ito ay para sa mga kababayan nating may pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan. Dapat mailapit ang serbisyo at matiyak na naaabot ang mga kwalipikadong nangangailangan,” Go said.
Each beneficiary received financial assistance, grocery packs, snacks, shirts and pens. Selected beneficiaries received basketball and volleyballs, shoes, a watch, a bicycle, and a mobile phone.
Go acknowledged Governor Generoso Mayor Juanito Inojales, Vice Mayor XZ May Inojales, members of the municipal council, barangay captains, community leaders, and other partners who helped facilitate the distribution.
The senator said immediate assistance can help families address food, transportation, medical, and other basic expenses while they seek more stable sources of income.
“Alam nating maraming pamilya ang kailangang pagkasyahin ang kanilang kita sa pagkain, gamot, pamasahe, at pag-aaral ng mga anak. Sa abot ng ating makakaya, patuloy tayong magbibigay ng tulong,” he said.
Go filed Senate Bill No. 676, which seeks to institutionalize the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program. The proposal is intended to place the program on a more permanent legislative foundation for individuals and families facing crises and other difficult circumstances.
He had also previously pushed for the institutionalization and proper implementation of AICS, emphasizing that qualified beneficiaries should receive assistance without unnecessary delay.
For longer-term livelihood support, Go filed SBN 2247, or the proposed Sustainable Livelihood Program Act, and SBN 177, or the proposed Rural Employment Assistance or TUPAD Bill.
His rural employment proposal seeks to provide temporary work opportunities to qualified poor, disadvantaged, displaced, or seasonal workers, including activities involving community facilities, environmental protection, and disaster recovery. A similar proposal he filed in the previous Congress outlined employment assistance for disadvantaged rural households.
“Ang pansamantalang tulong ay mahalaga, pero kailangan din nating suportahan ang mga programang nagbibigay ng trabaho at kabuhayan para mas makatayo sa sariling paa ang ating mga kababayan,” Go said.
For barangay functionaries, he filed SBN 178, or the proposed Magna Carta for Barangays Act of 2025, as part of efforts to improve the conditions and support available to workers and officials serving at the community level.
Go said barangay functionaries remain essential in identifying vulnerable residents, coordinating local activities, and connecting communities with available public services.
“Ang mga barangay worker ang madalas na unang nilalapitan ng mga tao. Kaya mahalagang suportahan din natin sila habang ginagampanan nila ang kanilang tungkulin sa komunidad,” he said.
The senator thanked the women’s organizations, faith-based groups, barangay workers, and other residents who participated in the activity.
“Bukas po ang aking opisina para sa inyo. Patuloy po akong makikinig at tutulong sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo,” Go concluded.
